The Discover Card is issued by Discover Financial Services. It is the third most popular brand of credit cards issued in the United States, after Visa and MasterCard.
The DiscoverCard is less popular outside the United States. An aggressive campaign by Discover Financial has been attempting to change this, however. To this end, Discover has made a move to purchase Diners Club, one of the former giants of the charge card industry.
This move potentially greatly expands Discover's global reach.
