New: Card Lab
In late November of 2007, Capital One began to offer the public its cardlab feature. The idea was to make the customer an active part of the selection and tailoring process for the kind of MasterCard received. The alternative option is to browse the full catalog of cards on offer and attempt to figure out which is best suited to ones needs as well as which one is actually eligible for besed on ones credit history.

CardLab puts you at the center of the selection process by letting you state your credit level and then having you select the best rewards that suit your preference. It also adds a further level of customization by letting you select the imagery and look of the MasterCard you receive. All told, there are eight different designs you can choose from.

More about Card Lab Here . .

Although the Visa Cards featured below are for consumers with Good to Excellent Credit ( See our articles on the FICO Credit Score and on Understanding Credit Scores in order to determine your credit rating level ) Capital One does offer accounts for consumers with limited credit as well. The offers presented above are for consumers with good credit or better. Capital One does service the subprime market although this has not been the focus of its marketing.

In 2007, the company entered the market for prepaid cards by purchasing Netspend Holdings of Austin Texas, a major issuer of prepaid debit cards. See the related story on Capital one's venture into prepaid cards online from The Washington Post.

This expands the company's reach across consumer types and does so at a national level since Netspend has a national footprint in the United States.

In Canada, Capital One offers a subprime guaranteed Secured Credit Card. This card is similar to other secured MasterCards in terms of funding requirements. One noteworthy feature is that it is only offered to consumers who have no other accounts with Capital One.
